Novel Presents Religions Clashing in the Courtroom
Author of the famous book turned movie Wag the Dog comes to Toronto to promote his new religious thriller
Toronto, Ont. (November 13, 2008)-The Centre for Inquiry-Ontario, will present the author of "Salvation Boulevard", Larry Beinhart, at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 21 at the Centre For Inquiry located at 216 Beverley St.
In the court room we are faced with a 2000 year old religious text staring us in the face. If we decide not to use it the reprecautions could cost us the trial. So what then, happens when you put many faiths into one court room and they are asked to defend a murder?
Larry Beinhart's book is a tale of this scenario. A born again Christian is found helping a Jewish defense lawyer in the court room with a muslim who has confessed to killing his atheist professor.
Beinhart is coming to Toronto to launch this new book and talk about faith and how it intersects with politics, specifically in America. Beinhart's website ( www.larrybeinhart.com ) includes a forum for an ongoing discussion about religion, faith, atheism and how these intersect with politics, life and money.
The Centre for Inquiry Canada welcomes Mr. Beinhart November 21, 2008 for a presentation on his new book and religiosity in America.
Larry Beinhart has written 8 books including Wag the Dog and The Librarian. Wag the Dog was adapted into an Oscar nominated film in 1998 starring Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro. He has won an Edgar, for his writing, and has been nominated for a Gold Dagger and an Emmy. He's been a political consultant, and lectured at Oxford for two years. When he isn't writing books he blogs for The Huffington Post. In his spare time he is a part-time ski instructor in Switzerland.
For more information on the event and to arrange an interview with Larry Beinhart, contact Katie Kish at (647) 267-5780.
The Center for Inquiry is devoted to science, reason, secularism and freedom of inquiry and expression in all human endeavors. This presentation is part of the ongoing CFI Freedom of Expression Campaign, which includes an art show at the Gladstone Hotel in early 2009. Please visit cfiontario.org.
