Film Screening: Last Temptation of Christ
Based on the controversial 1960 novel of the same name, this Scorsese classic depicts the life of Jesus Christ, and its central thesis that Jesus, while free from sin, was still subject to every form of temptation that humans face, including fear, doubt, depression, reluctance, and lust. Like the novel, the film caused outrage from some Christians who found the depiction of Christ imagining himself enraged in sexual activities very offensive.
The film earned Scorsese an Oscar nomination for best director.
