MEDIA ADVISORY - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Catholic Public Schools Must Grant Religious Class Exemptions
TORONTO, ONTARIO—(Feb 12, 2013) - The Canadian Secular Alliance (CSA) calls on all Catholic school boards in Ontario to obey the law and grant parents of high school students the right to exempt their children from religion classes and religious activities in Ontario Catholic high schools.
Ontario should eliminate its discriminatory education funding, and maintain a single secular educational system in the province. Until then, CSA supports Oliver Erazo, Terry Prodanyk, and all parents fighting to have their children exempted from religious indoctrination in publicly funded Ontario Catholic high schools.
The Canadian Secular Alliance is a non-profit, public policy research organization advancing church-state separation and the neutrality of government in matters of religion.
