Father of Secular Humanism Paul Kurtz & Atheist Chris DiCarlo Headline Upcoming Conference
Centre for Inquiry first national Canadian Conference March 4 - 7, 2010


Toronto, Ont. (February 24, 2010)— The Centre for Inquiry, Canada's premiere venue for skeptics, atheists and freethinkers, will be hosting its first national conference from March 4th to 7th, 2010. CFI is the leading freethought organization in Canada promoting reason, science and secularism and will be focusing on the intersection of art and science at this year's conference.

 

Friday, March 5th will consist of a Leadership Conference with presentations from student representatives, CFI leaders and other heads of organizations focusing on how to promote, organize and coordinate a secular coalition in Canada.


The night will finish with an awards banquet at 7 pm and an hour long Atheist Comedy Show at 9 pm.

Saturday, March 6th will feature an Educational Conference with the following speakers:
* Paul Kurtz, father of secular humanism and CFI founder
* Ron Lindsay, CFI CEO
* Byron Williston, Wilfrid Laurier University Chair of Philosophy
* James Harrod, Anthropologist
* Paula Gardner, Artist and OCAD Professor
* Chandler Davis, Science for Peace Activist
* James Robert Brown, Philosopher of Science

A keynote address will be given by Dr. Christopher diCarlo from 1:30 - 2:30 pm on the topic of the emergence of stone age art and its implications for consciousness and evolution.

The day will conclude with a Skeptics Magic Show with magician Jeff Hinchliffe at 8 pm.

Sunday will include the Annual General Meeting of the Centre for Inquiry.
