CFI LECTURE SERIES: WHY’D YOU HAVE TO GO AND MAKE THINGS SO COMPLICATED?
CFI Vancouver is proud to present a talk by Pat O’Brien:
"We in the skeptical/humanist community love to read, we read to learn. Many of the books on offer though are not accessible to the many who should be reading them. I read the magazines and books on skepticism and religion and I usually have a dictionary close by, but that's me. To most of my friends and colleagues, those who really need to read these books, referring to a dictionary to get through a book is going to mean that the book will remain unread. My talk is meant to bring to light this problem and to offer some solutions."
Pat has been involved in virtually every production aspect of film, television, and live theatre. After graduating from the National Theatre School of Canada, he entered television production at the CBC on the series “The Beachcombers.” After a flourishing career as a props master, Pat became a partner with Infinity Films.
In February 2002 Pat left Infinity Films to pursue projects independently. In 2002 Pat produced and directed the documentary Without God for Vision TV and the CBC. Pat is owner of Penguin Films which currently has many projects in various stages of development. He has recently returned to his Props Master career. Pat is the past President of The Humanist Association of Canada he is a former President of the British Columbia Humanist Association and is an Ambassador for Atheist Alliance International. He is now very pleased to be on the board of CFI Canada.
